Life in the Bluff

Zoom to Anvil NeighbourhoodThe group met in the Posh Paladin, a somewhat run-down inn in the Anvil District of Raven's Bluff. They had met to celebrate the squire-ship of several of their members to some of the orders of Knighthoods within Raven's Bluff. As they were finishing their meal, a disturbance sounded outside - the blowing of a fair number of whistles - the city watch.

Exiting the inn, most of the whistles were coming from the main dock district to the south, but a single whistle, suddenly cut off, sounded from the west. The group went to investigate and discovered a dead watchman in the edge of the De Villar's Creek. Looking around, they spotted some small boats with figures in, moving upstream. As they gave chase along the riverbank, some mages stood up on one of the boats, and simultaneously cast fireballs - setting fire to the small ship moored at one of the piers and crisping Danzigr (OOC: aka a PC that never got started).

The rest of the group ran up, with Jee'tik calling upon nature to pull down lightning bolts onto the nearest of the small boats (the others continued on towards another dock on the far side of the river - where they were torching other boats). A brief combat occured, during which all four mages were dispatched, one of the fighters who had been with them captured, the other killed, the fire on the boat was brought under control, and a large ship was seen coming up the river.

Zoom to map of LadyrockIt seemed, from the questioning of the prisoner, that an enemy force was trying to decimate the Raven's Bluff navy. One of the main defences of the city - a couple of golem controlled chains that could block the river from large boats, and a bell on the roof of Ladyrock castle and light-house, were under attack, and the group decided that they would comandeer a small boat to cross over to Ladyrock so they could attack.

Once on the island, a man - Harbour Master XXX - directed the party to assist with the defense of the Bell, for there were a number of defenders fighting on the roof of the castle to protect it. Quickly making their way through the castle, the group arrived on the roof. A couple of knights were in pitched battle with a group of pirate like attackers - whilst a troll and an ettin were rocking the bell mounting, trying to rip it free. The group moved to stop them...
