Here is some of the additional background for Deethan:

1339 Year of the Weeping Moon * Deethan born
1355 Year of the Harp * Escape from Haundrauth
* Meeting Keld (half-orc fighter type) and becomes best friend (two outcasts together)
* Arriving in Neverwinter, finding uncle
* Working at lock-smith next door (Deethan was originally designed as a thief/wizard char)
* After 3 years in Neverwinter (learning low level magic from his uncle)
* Incident with Harry Fathesque (member of the Iron Throne) prompting first foray into "crime" - a raid on Fathesque's house to "teach him a lesson"
* Raid turned nasty when he found
  a) a woman being used as a vessel to house a demon being summoned by Fathesque to demand info about a "sceptre"
  b) an assassin turns up and shoots Fathesque dead with a single crossbow bolt.
* Assassin escapes (via window and roof)
* Deethan tries to rescue woman, and takes the sceptre, finding out that it can cast a "hold person" spell at will...
* Local law arrive and Deethan and Keld leg it, with shouts of "Murderer!" behind them.
* They make it to a "safe-house" and figure out that they will probably have to leave the city.
* They collect their respective belongings, Deethan says farewell to his uncle, and they re-unite in the "safe-house" (a ruined building) to discuss plans.
* The assassin finds them, wanting to kill Deethan (as a witness) and luckily using the sceptre, Deethan ends up killing the assassin.
* The assassin's body dissolves, but not before he manages to extract a note which indicates that the assassin was to meet up with his patron at a certain place and time.  
The above is all part of the "story" written in the Prologue, Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 of the Deethan story. The rest of the story from this point on deviates from the other Deethan story.
* Deethan attends meeting (pretending to be the assassin) and finds out that the patron was himself an agent for "The Arcane Brotherhood" in Luskan
* Agent is incapacitated, but offers a way out of the city - a ship leaving that morning for Waterdeep.  He agrees to smuggle Deethan and Keld aboard
* Someone witnesses them boarding, but can't stop the ship sailing
1359 Year of the Serpent * Ship ambushed by pirates, then saved by Dutermont and his ship (with Drizzit and Caterbrie on-board)
* Robilliard (Dutermont's wizard) trains Deethan a bit more...and examines the sceptre - it is an artifact of some kind.
* Arrive in Neverwinter, only to find that the authorities are waiting for him and Keld.  They are cast into irons and promptly shipped back to Neverwinter for justice
* AGAIN attacked by pirates, this time captured - by Pinnochet?
* Keld is enslaved, and sent off to Calisham - bound for the arena
* Deethan is interrogated about the sceptre, which has also been taken by the Pirates.  He finds he has an "affinity" to it now, and can sense where it is...
1360 Year of the Turrent * Deethan is freed by a Wizard of the Arcane Brotherhood (name not generated), who had scryed him
1361 Year of Maidens * Deethan is taken to Luskan (teleported) by the wizard, and trained some more by the Arcane Brotherhood (including Dendybar the Mottled) to prepare him for re-gaining the sceptre - as it is believed that it is probably in Calisham now.
1362 Year of the Helm * Teleported to Calisham with instructions to find the Sceptre and return it
* Attacked by one of the guilds, and nearly killed by Artimis Entreri. :-)  Forced to work with them for a bit
* Sceptre is in the hands of a wizard (of course)
* Deethan finds out where Keld is and determines to rescue him.
* Deethan told to "go on a quest" to fetch something as payment for Keld's release.  (an XP side-track)
* Another visit from The Arcane Brotherhood, to try to hurry up getting the Sceptre
* Found halfling inn (can't remember the name) where there is very good anti-scrying enchantments, and spent time there learning with a mage (probably the one Keld was the slave for) and start to learn anti-scrying magics...
* Finally escape Calisham with Keld and move further south, using anti-scrying magic to try to keep The Arcane off his back
1363 Year of the Wyvern * Spend several years on the road, heading towards Chult - to look for other family members (unsuccessfully).  
1365 Year of the Wave * Eventually settle down in Baldur's Gate, setting up an alchemy shop.  Several years of quiet, with occasional forays to find strange and rare spell components, studying and increasing his skills in the magical arts.
* The city gears up for war, Deethan provides various services for the Flaming Fist Mercenary company - in which Keld is recruited and started to advance.
1369 Year of the  Gauntlet * City attacked from the sea by Sahuagin - help in the defense of the city - become more well known.
1373 Year of Wild Magic * Eventually slip up with the anti-scrying stuff, and out of the blue, visited by a demon - the Arcane Brotherhood are STILL on his tail.
* Forced to return to Calisham, steal sceptre and deliver it to the Arcane Brotherhood in Luskan.
* Both Keld and Deethan were due to be killed by the Arcane Brotherhood, but a wild magic surge caused him to be taken instead to another plane
* Wandered the infinite staircase for several years, before finially spending some time with a mage called "Ssessibel" on a particular plane, who taught some more powerful magic
1374 Year of the Lightning Storms * Eventually found way back to Prime Material plane, to find that only 8 months had passed in real time.
* Returned to Baldur's Gate to put his house in order and then set out on a search for Keld, who surprisingly was still alive.  Then set out to visit his Uncle (leaving Keld in Baldur's Gate).
