Soul Flight

Lying awake, staring at the ceiling,
I hear the sound of snow as it falls outside.
Waiting for sleep's soft gentle healing,
The land sighs and under the snow does hide.

At last my eyes close, and the pain slowly dies,
Deep dreamless sleep, sooths and rests me.
My muscles relax, the tension flows and unties.
All cares and woe disappear, as the night claims me.

Later, I drift into a strange dream state,
More real than my previous dreams.
I was walking through a small village fete,
Feeling wide awake, yet also asleep it seems.

Summer it was, walking down the street,
Soft clouds drifting lazily through the sky,
The dirt scuffed up under my feet,
How did I get there? And Why?
